Arthritis

The focus of our therapy for patients with arthritis is to help you improve your mobility and restore the use of impacted joints. We will work with you to gently increase the strength of your joints and eighteen your functional level to make it easier to perform the tasks required for independent living.

Our customized exercise programs will help you improve flexibility, strength, balance and coordination to function to the best of your ability.

We will also illustrate how to properly use assistive devices such as walkers and canes. In some instances, we will also recommend different treatment initiatives such as splints and braces to support your joints, or shoe inserts to relieve stress on the lower extremities.

We also work with hot and cold therapy to ease joint pain and stiffness.

Our experienced physical therapists may also suggest how your environment can be modified as in adding ergonomic chairs or cushioned mats to relieve pain.

 







Back and Joint Pain

More than 80 percent of Americans experience severe lower back pain and joint pain at some point in their lives and it is the number one reason for missed work days. Others are impacted by joint pain that can make very movement an ordeal.

These pains can be acute, the result of a trauma or injury, or they may be chronic, persisting for more than three months and seriously impacting your quality of life.

We work with you to find the root cause of your pain and discuss your treatment options. Our goal is to reduce the pain immediately and then work on long-term rehabilitation so you can return to your normal level of activity.

Your treatment plan will be customized to your specific condition. You will become a partner in the healing process as we prescribe specific exercises between your visits to help you stay on the road to improvement.







Balance Training

If you suffer from frequent falls, vertigo, imbalance, dizziness, or migraines, you may be experiencing a problem with your main balance system (your vestibular system).

It is important to receive proper therapy to avoid compounding the difficulties caused by imbalance issues, including a tendency to fall and create more injuries.

Dizziness and imbalance issues can take away your independence and curtail your ability to live a full life. We have success with a variety of therapies that help us get to the root cause of your problem, and work to solve it.







Core Stabilization

Working your core muscles is vital to your long-term health and mobility. By building a strong ore you create a strong foundation that helps you prevent injury anywhere up and down the kinetic chain.

For runners and recreational athletes, core strength is especially vital to prevent injury. For everyone it supports better balance and posture.







Dry Needling

Dry needling is a special procedure that helps reduce acute or chronic pain in patients. It works by reducing muscle tension, promotes healing and increases your range of motion.

You may benefit from dry needling if you have neck, back or shoulder pain, arm pain, headaches, jaw pain, fibromyalgia or osteoarthritis of the joints or temporomandibular disorder (TMJ), among other conditions.

Dry needling involves having our specially trained and certified physical therapists insert a disposal acupuncture needle into your skin and muscle tissue.

It works because the needles are directed at the myofascial trigger points that cause and refer pain throughout the body. High concentrations of chemicals that cause pain can be found in these trigger points. When the needle is inserted, it helps to normalize these chemical levels and decrease muscle tension and pain.

Dry needling is not like acupuncture other than the tool used to accomplish it.







Injury Prevention

Understanding what is at the root of your pain or injury is a significant first step to developing a program of care that prevents your injury from recurring.

We will work with you to assess if certain injuries can be prevented, or are likely to reoccur because of a specific condition or injury you are dealing with. We may prescribe strengthening exercises or other programs of care to keep injuries and falls from recurring.







Manual Therapy

We use a hands-on technique known as manual therapy to mobilize and manipulate your body in an effort to decrease pain and increase your range of motion.

Manual therapy is very effective in adding flexibility to stiff joints and muscles.

These treatment, when coupled with our education component and series of prescribed exercises, will allow you to regain your strength faster by being able to work on your rehabilitation at home between visits.







Motor Vehicle Injuries

From head injuries to whiplash to musculoskeletal issues we will work with your physician, insurance provider and other team members to assist in your recovery following a motor vehicle accident.

Our goal is to assess your injuries, discuss and then prescribe a course of physical therapy for you, and help you recover as quickly and thoroughly as possible.







Orthopedics

Our staff is specially trained in orthopedics, the science of correcting injuries and conditions that impact the skeletal system and its associated joints, muscles and ligaments.

With the use of science-based therapy and modalities such as ultrasound, and heat and cold therapies, combined with hands-on manual therapy, we work to get you pain-free and back to your normal level of activity as quickly as possible.

Prescriptive Exercise

Our prescriptive exercises are designed specifically for you and your condition. They incorporate your current health status, injuries, goals and abilities. They are designed to help you grow in strength and improve your range of motion and continue your therapy between sessions at our clinics.

Research has shown that having physical therapy both before and after a joint replacement surgery will speed up healing and lead to a full recovery.

Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation

We treat high school, college and recreational athletes who have sustained sports injuries.

Our goal is to determine the cause of the injury, reduce pain and inflammation and begin the healing process, and educate the athlete to prevent recurring injuries.

Sports injuries we commonly treat include runner’s knees, golfer’s shoulder, tennis elbow and sprains, strains and fractures.

We aim to get you healed and back to enjoying the sport of your choice as quickly as possible.

We combine that with patient education to ensure that athletes do not fall into a pattern of recurring injuries.







Sports Specific Strength Training

We offer sports specific strengthening programs to help prevent common sports specific injuries like runner’s knee, golfer’s shoulder and tennis elbow. Come and see us in advance of your favorite sports season and we will help prepare your body for it.







Stretching Exercises

Stretching can be a significant part of your regular exercise regimen.

It increases your flexibility and helps widen the range of motion of your joints.

We will build your stretching exercises with an eye to your specific injuries and conditions.
